Parts of I-65, I-69 Closed by Ice and Accident

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Icy road conditions and an accident have brought traffic to a standstill along portions of two of central Indiana's busiest highways.

Indiana State Police say northbound lanes of Interstate 65 were closed in Johnson County just south of Indianapolis due to icy conditions. Police say they'll decide Tuesday afternoon if the northbound lanes can be reopened or should remain closed until warmer temperatures forecast for Wednesday help salt melt roadway ice.

Southbound lanes of I-65 remain open in the area.

State Police also closed southbound lanes of Interstate 69 just northeast of Indianapolis on Tuesday after a semi-trailer jackknifed near the State Road 38 exit.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area because police said it's unclear how long it will take to remove the vehicle from the highway.
