INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Gov. Mike Pence continues to press his case for an alternative Medicaid expansion in Washington.
The Republican governor met with Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell on Monday but said no deal has been reached yet.
Pence is seeking federal approval of a plan to expand Medicaid using a state-run alternative to the federal program. The federal program would still pay the vast majority of the costs if the plan is approved.
Pence met with President Barack Obama in southwestern Indiana last Friday to pitched his Medicaid plan. Shortly afterward, Pence traveled north to pitch East Chicago residents on his plan and to attend a fundraiser hosted by hotel magnate Dean White.
