Pence Says Wife Making Steady Surgery Recovery

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana Gov. Mike Pence says his wife is making a steady recovery from surgery last week to remove her gallbladder.

Karen Pence underwent the outpatient surgery on Jan. 24 after experiencing abdominal pain the day before and going to an emergency room.

The governor said Wednesday that plans were set for he and his wife to move on Saturday into the Governor’s Residence on the north side of Indianapolis. They’ve been renting a house in the Indianapolis suburb of McCordsville since last summer.

Former Gov. Mitch Daniels and his wife never moved into Governor’s Residence during his eight years in office. The 23-room Tudor house was built in 1928, and Daniels oversaw a $1.2 million update that was paid for with private donations.
