Pets Didn’t Make It Out Of A Fort Wayne Fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  Crews tried to save the pets at a house fire a few blocks southwest of Lakeside Park but were unsuccessful.

The alarm came in around 10:22 p.m. Saturday night, and when they got to Kensington Blvd. they first put out a fire on the external part of the home.  When they searched inside they found the fire was in the kitchen and extended into the attic.  In all it took 7 minutes to put out the flames.

No one was home at the time, but firefighters did find 4 pets.  Three died, but a fourth lived after being treated by Three Rivers Ambulance Authority Medics and transported to Fort Wayne Animal Control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  The home suffered heavy fire damage.
