FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A popular downtown summer time destination looks to expand, but it needs city approval.

Hall's Gas House wants to expand its outdoor deck on the St. Mary's River near Spy Run. Hall's wants to double the size of the area to include more seating capacity in addition to a kitchen and bar.

The plan will go before city plan commission next week. Wayne Township Trustee Rick Stevenson isn't so sure its a good idea.

According to the News-Sentinel, he says the area remains contaminated from the days the area hosted a coal gas plant.

City council must also approve a plan to vacate a small strip of land that served as a right of way. Council could vote on the request this month.
