Police: 5 Wounded in Gunfire at Gary Social Club

GARY, Ind. (AP): Police say five people were wounded in an exchange of gunfire during an apparent attempted robbery at a northwestern Indiana social club.

Gary Police Department Cpl. Gabrielle King says the shooting happened late Wednesday at the Safe & Sound Senior Citizens Social Club south of the city's downtown.

King says a 23-year-old gunman entered the building and told people to get on the floor. She says gunshots soon broke out between the gunman and someone inside the club.

Four male club patrons ranging in age for 43 to 76 were wounded, along with gunman. King says all five were taken to hospitals but that information on their conditions wasn't immediately available.
