Powerboat Builders Speeding Toward Success

ST. JOHN, Ind. (AP) _ Two northwestern Indiana brothers are turning their love of all things fast into a lucrative powerboat business.

Scott and Daryl Grady have made three custom powerboats since forming their company in 2004 and say interest is growing now that the economy is improving in Europe. Scott Grady tells The Times in Munster that his company has received contracts from customers in the Middle East and Europe.

A typical vessel from Chief Powerboats costs between $525,000 and $750,000. Each is designed to the customer’s specifications.

One of the company’s boats raced in this month’s venture Cup between London and the Channel Islands.
