Proposed Indy Soccer Stadium Would Likely Go Downtown

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Indy 11 General Manager, Peter Wilt says the organization is still trying to find a location for the 82 million dollar venue, but he says it will be in downtown Indianapolis because it would be the best use of something that could be another sports related economic engine for Hoosiers to use.

Wilt isn‘t measuring for window treatments yet though, as he continues to make the case that the only people who will pay for the stadium are those who use the stadium. Collection from ticket sales, vending, and hotel revenues from a project also owned by team owner Ersal Ozdemir will all go into the pot to pay off the financing for the stadium.

Some lawmakers are still skeptical of the financing plan hinging so heavily on the team‘s success.

Senate President David Long says this bill isn‘t a top priority for his chamber. House Speaker Brian Bosma had to excuse himself from the bill that passed out of his chamber with a 74-21 vote, as he‘s done legal work for the team
