Prosecutor Wants to Review Full Bennett Report

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry wants to review information about former schools Superintendent Tony Bennett that's contained in a state report that recommended the former schools chief face wire fraud charges.

The Associated Press reported Tuesday that an internal state investigation had found more than 100 instances to support wire fraud charges against Bennett for his use of staff and state resources during his 2012 re-election campaign.

Bennett has not been charged.

Curry said Tuesday that he declined to file charges after the state reached a settlement in which Bennett paid a $5,000 fine but admitted no wrongdoing. But the prosecutor said Wednesday that he never received the full Bennett investigation report from February 2014 and has requested a copy from the inspector general's office to review.
