WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ Purdue University says a more than $250 million investment in the life sciences over the next five years will support the hiring of staff and top faculty in six colleges.
Purdue says the investment it announced Wednesday will provide for the immediate hiring of a director of the university's new Center for Integrative Neuroscience and a leading faculty member in the area of drug discovery.
Purdue President Mitch Daniels says 40 Purdue-developed drugs are in the development pipeline and the university garnered $400 million in sponsored research funding this past year.
The university says the funding includes $60 million from a capital campaign for a life sciences initiative that created the Neuroscience Center and an Institute for Inflammation, Immunology and Infectious Disease.
