Recall issued for dog food causing Vitamin D toxicity

Recall

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The FDA has announced a recall for two brands of dry dog food.

Nutrisca and Natural Life Pet Products have issued voluntary recalls for certain bags of food after dogs that ate the food experienced problems like vomiting and excessive drooling and urination.

The FDA says it’s due to too much Vitamin D being in the formula, essentially giving the pets an overdose of the vitamin. If you have any of the bags under the recall, throw it away or return it to where you bought it for a full refund.

We have the names and UPCs of the affected bags below:

17.5 lbs. Natural Life Chicken & Potato Dry Dog Food Bag UPC: 0-12344-08175-1
4 lbs Nutrisca® Chicken and Chickpea Dry Dog Food Bag UPC: 8-84244-12495-7
15 lbs Nutrisca® Chicken and Chickpea Dry Dog Food Bag UPC: 8-84244-12795-8
28 lbs Nutrisca® Chicken and Chickpea Dry Dog Food Bag UPC: 8-84244-12895-5
