Repairs Could Close Bridge Over Wabash River Up To 6 Months

VINCENNES, Ind. (AP) _ A bridge that crosses the Wabash River, connecting Indiana and Illinois in Vincennes, could be closed up to six months for repairs later this year.

Indiana Department of Transportation spokesman Jason Tiller tells the Vincennes Sun-Commercial (http://bit.ly/1MiXYVz ) the Lincoln Memorial Bridge will undergo several improvements, from new pavement to the resealing of joints, to cosmetic repairs to the facade. He says crews also will do work on bridge supports because floods in recent years may have caused erosion. The bridge opened in 1932.

Tiller says the bridge hasn't fallen into disrepair, but when dealing with a historical structure it is important to have a regular maintenance program.
