MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): Documents filed in U.S. District Court show a retired Delaware County sheriff’s deputy has agreed to plead guilty to selling more than $8,000 in county-owned ammunition.

Documents filed May 9 show Arlan Johnson agreed to plead guilty to theft or bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds as part of a plea agreement with the U.S. attorney’s office. Johnson faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 11.

Johnson is accused of stealing the ammunition between January 2012 and last Aug. 5, a month before he retired, and keeping the money for his own use. Authorities said he racked up more than $100,000 in gambling losses.
