PAOLI, Ind. (AP): State police say a southern Indiana sheriff's deputy shot two people just before their car struck him after a chase through parts of three counties.
 
       State police Sgt. Philip Hensley says chase started when a Harrison County deputy tried to stop the car about 2 a.m. Monday in the town of Palmyra. The car fled on U.S. 150 through part of Washington County and into Orange County, where the driver turned onto county roads until running into a dead end several miles south of Paoli.
 
       The two people were apprehended by a state conservation officer behind the deputy.
 
       Hensley says the deputy was hospitalized with leg and back injuries. One person from the car was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, the other with a hand wound.
