School officials intensify police presence after threat

JAY COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): School officials in Jay County are beefing up security after a threat on social media.

Officials with the Jay County School District tell our Partners in News at ABC 21 they’re aware of an “unspecified” threat against Jay County High School, and as a result, additional police patrols have been set up at the school’s campus to reassure both students and parents.

The district notes, however, that police are confident there’s no serious threat to students’ safety.

Threats to area schools have skyrocketed in frequency after last month’s massacre at a Florida high school. One teen in Van Wert County was arrested last month for such threats.
