GRANT COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): The US Supreme Court will hear a case out of Grant County.

The highest court in the land announced this week it’ll hear a case involving the limits of the government’s ability to seize property from suspected criminals, after convicted drug dealer Tyson Timbs’ SUV was seized by Grant County officials because it was used to transport illegal drugs.

The Journal Gazette reports a state Appeals Court had ruled the state’s forfeiture law was unconstitutional on the basis of being “excessive,” but that was overturned by the state Supreme Court.

Legal experts say the Court’s ruling could have an impact on how the Bill of Rights applies to the 14th Amendment.
