NASHVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ The southern Indiana tourist town of Nashville has reached a settlement with a Michigan man who accused a deputy marshal of shocking him with a Taser gun while he was having a seizure.
The Herald-Times reports the terms of the out-of-court settlement between Nashville's insurance company and Robert Newell's attorney were not disclosed.
The 51-year-old Three Rivers, Michigan, man had threatened to sue Nashville for civil rights violations, unlawful use of force and inadequate police training.
Newell's attorney, Betsy Greene, says in a statement her client suffered a seizure at a Nashville restaurant in August 2012, and fell to the floor.
She says that because of his medical state Newell could not comply with medics' instructions and a deputy marshal intervened and shocked Newell twice with a Taser
