Stair Manufacturer Moving Production Facility to Indiana

HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) – American Stair Corp. is moving it stair-manufacturing operations that employs 135 workers in Romeoville, Illinois, to Hammond this year.

The (Munster) Times reports (http://bit.ly/1GpuIGR ) the company has purchased a formerly vacant 72,000-square-foot building and plans to invest about $3.8 million into what will soon be its new headquarters. The company says it plans to add 45 new jobs over the next three years.

The Regional Development Authority is contributing $1.7 million to the project, including $1.35 million to help with the purchase of the facility and another $375,000 for repairs and upgrades.

About 30 employees will start working at the new American Stair facility by the end of March.
