FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  State Auditor Suzanne Crouch visited Fort Wayne Monday. On her her agenda was a talk for a local rotary club. She also spent time with Allen County Auditor Tara Klutz and her staff.

Crouch says her trip wasn't just a get acquainted session, it was an opportunity to learn about the local operation and build the relationship between state and local officials.

During her visit she she hit on the increasing need of transparency. She says her office and those of county auditors around are servants to taxpayers, and they should be free of party politics.

Government auditors function much like controllers in corporations. She says auditors are the chief financial officers of the state and county.
