JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) – Mill Steel Co. plans to open a flat-rolled steel plant at southern Indiana's Ohio River port that company officials say could have about 45 workers by 2017.
The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based company announced Monday it is spending about $16 million to buy and expand a building at Jeffersonville's Port of Indiana Maritime Center to about 225,000 square feet, making it the port's newest operation.
The company says operations will begin at the complex in June and it plans to begin hiring this week.

Mill Steel processes and distributes flat rolled carbon steel for the automotive, construction, appliance and general manufacturing industries.
The company plans to operate an accredited testing lab in Jeffersonville, which is just north of Louisville, Ky.
