Still No Charges Yet in South Whitley Shooting

SOUTH WHITLEY, Ind. (WOWO): No charges have been filed in the August death of a South Whitley man.

Adam Porter was shot Aug. 14 in the backyard of David Hagan’s property on West Buckeye St. in South Whitley. Whitley County prosecuting attorney Matt Renschler said Monday the case is still under investigation and he is waiting for reports from the state police.

According to a prior press release from the prosecuting attorney’s office, on Aug. 14 police responded to an emergency call from a neighbor around 8:30 p.m. and found Porter’s body in Hagan’s yard, dead from a gunshot wound.

Hagan claimed the shooting was in self defense. He was initially booked into the Whitley County Jail and released the next day.
