Storm Brings Several Inches of Snow to Far Southern Indiana

ROCKPORT, Ind. (AP) – The latest winter storm to hit Indiana has blanketed the state's far southern counties with several inches of snow just ahead of another blast of Arctic cold.

The National Weather Service says Evansville, Rockport and Mount Vernon all reported 8 inches of new snow on the ground Thursday morning, while Salem had 7 inches.

Lesser amounts were reported just north of Indiana's Ohio River counties, with 5 inches in Paoli and 6 inches in Scottsburg.

The winter storm is expected to push east of southern Indiana later Thursday.

High pressure will move into the region Thursday, keeping highs in the teens over most of Indiana. Lows will drop to near or slightly below zero across northern and central Indiana by Friday morning and into the single digits over the south.
