Sweetwater plans major expansion, 1,000+ new jobs

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – Sweetwater is planning a major expansion, adding more than 1,000 new job opportunities to Fort Wayne.

Governor Eric Holcomb, Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry and Allen County commissioners joined Sweetwater officials Tuesday, announcing the company plans to significantly expand its operations by 2022.

The company plans to invest more than $76.4 million to expand its 163-acre campus, located along US Highway 30 West in Fort Wayne.

Sweetwater will construct a new, 350,000-square-foot warehousing facility, that will provide product storage, gear testing, gear photography, offices, staff amenities and customer pickup.

The company will break ground on the expansion tomorrow, and expects it to be operational by the summer of 2020.

As part of the expansion, Sweetwater will hire additional distribution, logistics, sales, marketing, merchandising, programming/IT, and various other administrative roles over the next five years.
