Teen Arrested after Stabbing of Ball State Student

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – Police say a 19-year-old man was arrested in the stabbing of a Ball State University student during a fight at a weekend party.

Muncie police Lt. Steve Cox says the fight happened early Sunday after the Lafayette man who was visiting friends was denied entry to an off-campus party.

Cox tells The Star Press that as the fight escalated the man pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the student in the abdomen.

The Ball State Daily News reports the student was recovering Monday at Ball Memorial Hospital after undergoing surgery.

Police say the Lafayette man faces a preliminary charge of aggravated battery.
