MUNCIE, Ind. (WOWO): For years, Americans have been watching music competitions from their homes and rooting for their favorite contestant from their couch. This year, northern Indiana residents may have the chance to see a new show a little closer to home.

“The Song,” a music competition featuring 15 contestants from across the country, will premiere in the fall.

The twist? The show will be filmed in Muncie starting March 9, The Star Press reported. The competition will end with a “reveal” concert, which is open to a live audience, at 7 p.m. March 12 at Pruis Hall at Ball State University.

While most of the music competitions are held in cities like Los Angeles and New York, the new show picked Muncie because the producers were drawn to BSU’s music and television departments. The producers also wanted to produce a show in America’s heartland.
