Three Month Old Infant Fighting For Life, FWPD Investigating

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne police are investigating how a three month old infant suffered a head injury that has it in critical condition.

Officers responded to a call Sunday afternoon at about 2:30 p.m. from someone concerned about the child's health on Ferndale Drive in northeast Fort Wayne near Ivy Tech. The infant's mother reportedly got into a fight with whomever called police shortly after the call was made.

Medics soon arrived and took the infant to the hospital after determining the child had an injury to its head. The child was first listed in serious condition but was later downgraded to critical condition later. Medical staff were also able to find prior injuries to the infant.

The mother of the child has been taken in for questioning, but no charges have been filed on anyone yet. Department of Child Services were called for the other children living at the home.

At last report, the Fort Wayne Police Department says the three-month-old is still in critical condition and is undergoing tests. The investigation continues.
