Tips For Handling State Fair Food With Moderation

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Fair food: Hard to resist, right? The State Fair isn’t the State Fair without all the tasty food.

Most expect to kiss their daily caloric intake goodbye with lemon shake-ups, elephant ears, funnel cakes, corndogs and other deep-fried treats on a stick. Just a few fair treats can add up to well over 2000 calories.

But you don’t have to deprive yourself of these fair favorites, just make sure you have a plan. Dietician Katie Knudsen says bring a friend or family member with you so you can share some of those items and cut the portions in half.

So go to the fair, enjoy yourself in moderation and walk it off during the day.
