Traffic Alert: Jefferson and Washington to Close, Tonight

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): We've got a WOWO traffic alert to pass along from the

City of Fort Wayne.

According to a press release issued by city leaders, two separate street closures are needed to continue some utility work that's happening downtown. Both closures will be overnight, between 9:00 p.m., Thursday night and 6:00 a.m., Friday morning.

West Jefferson Boulevard will close at the intersection of Webster Street for the installation of a storm line. A detour will route traffic from Jefferson, north on Ewing, east on Wayne Street and south on Clinton Street.  Jefferson will reopen at 6:00 a.m., Friday morning.

Meanwhile, a water line repair will take place near the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Broadway. To accommodate the repair, Washington will be closed and traffic will be re-routed north on Fairfield Avenue, west on Main Street and south on Van Buren Street to connect with Washington. Additionally, Broadway will be closed to northbound traffic between Main and Jefferson. The traffic restrictions to Washington and Broadway will begin at 9:00 p.m., tonight and the streets will open by 6:00 a.m., tomorrow.
