Turbo Tax Continues Filing Returns after 2014 Identity Theft Scam

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Indiana Department of Revenue says Turbo Tax will continue filing electronic tax returns after accusations of widespread fraud last week.

According to the Journal Gazette, Turbo Tax announced last week they would cancel forwarding the returns in all 50 states. Today, the company will resume submitting state returns after installing safeguards to avoid fraudulent returns.

Last year, the State Department of Revenue caught on to the identity theft scam that asked for $88 million in refunds.

Turbo Tax was able to prevent 74,000 fraudulent returns in 2014. They haven't yet released how many fraudulent filings were spotted this year.
