Two killed in I-69 crash near Angola

ANGOLA, Ind. (WOWO): Two people were killed in a one-vehicle crash on I-69 near Angola yesterday afternoon.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department tells WOWO news the crash happened near the 352 mile marker on the southbound side of the interstate a little before 5:15pm. A pickup towing a 30-foot camper travel trailer lost control while going around a curve and ended up overturning and rolling into the median.

71-year-old Jimmy Hord and 67-year-old Sherry Hord, both of Wimberley, TX, were pronounced dead at the scene. Jimmy Hord had not been wearing a seatbelt, and was thrown from the vehicle. Sherry Hord had been buckled up, but was pinned inside the vehicle.

The crash closed down part of I-69 for two-and-a-half hours. Police don’t believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
