Lima, Oh (WOWO): Ohio police say the convicted killer of three students at a high school cafeteria escaped from prison and was recaptured a few hours later.

Police say 19-year-old T.J. Lane escaped Thursday night around 7:45 p.m. with two other inmates and one of the inmates was immediately captured.  Lane was caught around 1 a.m. in a soybean field, armed with a pitchfork.

Lane was held at the Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution, about an hour from Fort Wayne.

According to scanner traffic, around 4:20 a.m. Clifford Opperund was caught after a massive search that involved multiple agencies and a helicopter.

Police say they handled the search in the woods and residential area near the prison because 45 year old Clifford Opperund was considered dangerous.  They had no further information on how the two men got out of the prison.

Lane pleaded guilty last year to shooting three students in February 2012 at Chardon High School, east of Cleveland. He said he didn't know why he did. He was given three life sentences.
