UPDATE: Fire at Marketplace of Canterbury

The cleanup begins after fire reportedly destroyed one business and seriously damaged another this morning in the Marketplace of Canterbury. Police first believed that the blaze started at Mitchell’s Sports Bar, but it was later reported that the initial fire began at the neighboring Cap n‘ Cork before spreading to Mitchell’s Sports Bar. Jeff Bowman with our news partner, 21 Alive, says Cap n’ Cork is a complete loss, while Mitchell’s Sports Bar sustained heavy damage. Crews battled the blaze for about 2 hours. There are no reports of injuries at this hour, and the cause remains under investigation.
