UPDATED: Indiana AG Zoeller Announces Settlement with Aspen Dental

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): A lawsuit with a dental practice with offices in our area has been settled.

Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller announced Thursday that a settlement has been reached with Aspen Dental Management.

The suit alleged that Aspen Dental used deceptive advertising and unfair tactics to promote their services in Indiana. The company marketed free or discounted exams without adequately disclosing limitations or qualifications for those offers or of their interest-free payment plans.

Customers affected will receive a total of $15,000 in restitution, which will come out of a $95,000 penalty paid to the state.

Aspen Dental has offices in Fort Wayne, Marion, Muncie, and Warsaw along with other locations in the state.

3:20 PM UPDATE: In a statement to WOWO News, Aspen says they disagree with Zoeller and says many of the 73 complaints the AG's office received were resolved prior to settlement.
