What Home and Store Owners Should Know about the Snow

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): As several Hoosiers prepare for a winter storm that is expected to blanket much of Indiana with snow and bone-chilling temperatures, there is a few laws that you should know about.

Every owner or occupant of a home or other building in the Summit City must have storefronts and walkways removed of snow and ice everyday by 9:00 a.m.

It’s also illegal for any person to deposit snow or ice from private property onto public domain, like business sidewalks, streets, alleyways, or within five feet of any fire hydrant. Penalties can also lead to a fine of up to $2,500 and each offence is a separate cost.
