Work Nears End on Downtown Kokomo Parking Garage

KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) – The four-story parking garage being built in downtown Kokomo is expected to open up for the public in about a month while construction continues on apartments being built above it.

Mayor Greg Goodnight says he anticipates the parking garage work will be completed in the first part of November, although crews will keep some parts closed off as staging areas for the apartment construction.

Goodnight tells the Kokomo Tribune about 280 free public parking spots will be available in the garage along with 80 spaces reserved for county government workers and one spot reserved for each of the 39 apartments.

Goodnight says the spots for government employees should free up street parking for the public.

The apartment construction could be finished next spring.
