LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ A school superintendent says two students have been arrested for a graffiti threat referring to a Columbine High School-style attack.
Lafayette School Corp. Superintendent Les Huddle said Wednesday that two female students in 10th and 11th grades at Lafayette Jefferson High School were arrested for disorderly conduct, threats and intimidation.
Police say the graffiti was found Monday afternoon in a girls' restroom. It included a threat to “shoot up'' the school and a reference to the 1999 Columbine attack in Colorado that killed 13 people before the two student shooters killed themselves.
A school district news release says an initial investigation shows the two girls wanted school canceled for the day.
School staff said 322 students notified the school Tuesday they weren't attending classes because of the threat.
