27 Arrested In Terre Haute

 Police have arrested 27 people on alcohol-related charges while patrolling the area near Indiana State University in Terre Haute.

Indiana State Excise Police say in a news release that officers also cited 14 other people on various charges Friday night.

Officers arrested 17 minors on preliminary charges of illegal possession or consumption or alcohol, including two under age 18. Nine adults were arrested on preliminary charges of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Two of the 14 others were cited for open container violations.

Officers were in Terre Haute as part of an initiative on six college campuses: Ball State University, Butler University, University of Notre Dame, Purdue University, Indiana University-Bloomington and Indiana State University.
