GOSHEN, Ind. (AP): The owners of several northern Indiana convenience stores facing charges of dealing synthetic drugs have had their bonds raised to $5 million each.
 
       An Elkhart County judge approved the request from prosecutors Thursday to set the higher bonds for 43-year-old Gurcharn Singh and 37-year-old Jaswinder Kaur. They had been held under $500,000 bonds since being arrested during June 9 raids of several businesses and homes in Elkhart and St. Joseph counties.
 
       The Elkhart Truth reports a police investigator testified Thursday that federal immigration officials told him that Kaur and Singh are in the country illegally. The officer said $2.2 million in cash had been seized in the case.
 
       Kaur and Singh remain jailed and court records don't list defense attorneys for them.
