8 Inches of Snow in N. Ind., Snowfall Continues

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) =- The National Weather Service is reporting some areas of northern Indiana have received 8 inches of snow, with up to a foot of lake-effect snow possible on one of the year's busiest travel days.

The weather service says a heavy lake effect snow warning has been issued for northern Indiana's LaPorte, St. Joseph, Starke and Marshall counties through Wednesday night.

The weather service says the snow likely will slow driving along the Indiana Toll Road, Interstate 94 and U.S. 30. The state Department of Transportation reported roads in northern Indiana were slick and snow-covered in spots and urged drivers to slow down. The weather service reports 8 inches of snow had fallen by Wednesday afternoon in Argos and Georgetown and 6 inches in Walkerton.
