80-year-old Veteran Will Receive High School Diploma

This Saturday, LeRoy Blessing will be among 450 students at Carroll High School to receive their diploma. The only difference is Blessing’s has been 62 years in the making. Blessing went to Arcola School until his junior year when he enlisted in the Marine Corps. Blessing spent the next 30 years in the corps, serving in the Korean War, Okinawa, and Vietnam in that time. Blessing decided he wanted to get his high school diploma, and while Arcola School no longer exists, Northwest Allen County Schools is helping fulfill Blessing’s wish by giving him his diploma through Carroll High School.
