Man Arrested on Several Charges Saturday After Foot Pursuit

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Palestine Lake on February 9th in attempt to serve two active warrants on Matthew Mahaska. Officers located Mahaska walking along County Road 600 West near Blue Jay Drive around 7 p.m. Officers had detained and handcuffed Mahaska, as well as locating several stolen items in his possession, when he suddenly turned and ran back towards homes near Palestine Lake.  Officers immediately chased Mahaska through various yards until apprehending him on the ground a short distance from their squad cars.  Officers were originally serving active warrants on Mahaska for felony theft as well as felony failure to appear, but have added preliminary charges of resisting/fleeing law enforcement and possession of paraphernalia.  Mahaska is currently located in the Kosciusko County Jail with a bond of $17,500.
