Biker in Critical Condition after Crash

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel from North Webster EMS & Fire Department responded Friday at 4:20 pm to the area of McKenna Road, east of Robert Lewis Drive in regards to an injured bicyclist.

Officers arrived and found the operator of the bicycle, identified as Daniel King, 50, Leesburg, on the ground suffering from extensive head and facial injuries. CPR had been initiated on King who was immediately transferred from the scene by Samaritan helicopter and airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center in critical condition. A witness at the scene advised deputies that King had been riding his bicycle westbound on McKenna Road when he suddenly went over the handlebars for an unknown reason, striking the pavement with his head. King was not wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the incident.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department  deputies stated that the incident is still under investigation pending blood/toxicology results.
