Police Pursuit Ends In Arrest After Multi-County Chase On I-69

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) — A multi-agency police pursuit that began in Fremont ended with the arrest of a 19-year-old Indianapolis man Sunday night after the vehicle he was driving was stopped in DeKalb County.

According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded just before 8 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2026, to assist the Fremont Town Marshal’s Office with a fleeing vehicle traveling westbound on State Road 120 near the Fremont town limits.

The vehicle, described as a blue passenger car, continued to flee and entered Interstate 69 southbound near the 354-mile marker. As the pursuit continued, additional law enforcement agencies, including the Angola Police Department and the Indiana State Police, joined the effort.

The chase proceeded south into DeKalb County, where the vehicle was eventually stopped near the 332-mile marker with assistance from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and the Ashley-Hudson Town Marshal’s Office.

The driver was apprehended and identified as Adolfo Mejia-Fuentes, 19, of Indianapolis. He was transported back to Steuben County by the Fremont Town Marshal’s Office and booked into the Steuben County Jail.

Mejia-Fuentes faces the following preliminary charges:

Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Level 6 felony

Resisting Law Enforcement, Class A misdemeanor

Driving While Suspended, Class A misdemeanor

Reckless Driving, Class B misdemeanor

Possession of Marijuana, Class B misdemeanor

Possession of Paraphernalia, Class C misdemeanor

Authorities said Mejia-Fuentes has since posted bond and was released from custody.
