FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): One of downtown Fort Wayne’s most popular summer traditions is returning for another season.
Lunch on the Square kicked off its 18th season Thursday at Freimann Square, bringing together food trucks, live music and community support during the lunch hour.
The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every other Thursday through July 30 as part of the Downtown Fort Wayne Summer Series.
Organizers say the new every-other-week schedule was designed to provide built-in weather dates and increase flexibility throughout the season.
The Lunch Means More program will also continue this year. Through the initiative, Barnes & Thornburg will match 15 percent of sales from a featured food truck each week, with the proceeds benefiting The League.
In addition to Lunch on the Square, the Downtown Fort Wayne Summer Series will feature Movie Nights and a Night Market later this summer.
Movie Nights are scheduled for July 24, August 28 and September 25 at the Fort Wayne Cinema Center.
The Night Market will be held August 6 and August 20 at Hop River Brewing Company.
Organizers say the series is designed to bring more people downtown while supporting local businesses, artists and nonprofit organizations throughout the summer.
