WHITESTOWN, Ind. (WOWO): A Whitestown man is facing an attempted murder charge following a domestic shooting that left his father injured Sunday evening.

Police arrested 28-year-old Rutherford Keener at a home on Indigo Blue Boulevard after responding to reports of a shooting. Investigators said Keener told arriving officers that he had shot his father.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the foot and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities said he was listed in stable condition.

Officers took Keener into custody at the scene without incident. He was later booked into the Boone County Jail on a preliminary charge of attempted murder.

Investigators have not released additional details about what led to the shooting or whether anyone else was present inside the home at the time.

The case remains under investigation. Prosecutors will review the evidence before making a final charging decision.
