Veterans National Memorial Shrine and Museum Unveils Tribute Honoring Local Veterans

The Veterans National Memorial Shrine and Museum unveiled two tribute benches Saturday honoring local veterans Neale Shank and Kevin Pape.

21 Alive News says the two were childhood friends and graduates of Concordia Lutheran High School.

Shank was killed in Iraq in 2007, while Pape died in combat in Afghanistan in 2010. Organizers say the benches will ensure their legacy lives on.

Fundraising efforts included support from their schools, Concordia’s J-R-O-T-C program and Team Pape.
