FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – The 51st annual Johnny Appleseed Festival in Fort Wayne ended early Sunday due to the threat of additional heavy rain.

Organizers closed the festival at 3 p.m. to give vendors time to pack up before more rain moved into the area.

Earlier this week, flooding forced organizers to relocate several vendors from the St. Joseph River area.

A festival board member says the flooding prompted last-minute changes unlike anything he’s seen in 30 years.
