Huntington Residents Support of Wind Energy and Proposed Plum Tree Wind Project

HUNTINGTON CO., Ind. (WOWO): A recent survey of Huntington County homeowners found that 90% believe wind energy should play a role in providing electricity for the nation. The results of the independent phone survey also suggests that up to 75% of Huntington County property owners would support a wind energy project in the rural southeastern part of the county. Apex Clean Energy is leading the development of the Plum Tree Wind project, a nearly $200 million project under consideration near Warren. According to a release by the company, Plum Tree Wind is expected to generate $4.26 million in new property taxes in just the first 10 years. The total economic contribution over its 25-year lifetime is estimated at $100 million.
