Mayor Henry Announces Projects for Infrastructure in 2014

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Thursday, Mayor Tom Henry, joined by other city officials, announced infrastructure projects for a record year of over $20 million in enhancements. Highlights of the projects include 50 miles of paving, 10 miles of concrete reconstruction, brick street work, 12 miles of chip and seal repairs, sidewalk improvements, and curb and ramp repairs. The first projects are expected to start late this month-early April, weather permitting.

In a statement released by the Mayor’s office, Mayor Henry said,

“We value the needs of our community. Residents have asked us to place an emphasis on streets, roads, and sidewalks. We listened to our residents, and we’re looking forward to getting started on projects that focus on neighborhoods, quality of life, economic development, and job creation. We’re investing in our future.”

The maintenance to the transportation system is anticipated to create over 300 construction jobs.
