City to Study Downtown Arena

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Talk of a downtown arena sparking interest again.

A $40,000 thousand feasibility study conducted by a Chicago-based firm is expected to be completed before the end of the year.

A News-Sentinel report says the city wants to determine if an additional facility could spark more sports, recreation or entertainment options downtown.

Supporters say a smaller, cozy year-round downtown arena wouldn't necessarily compete with the Memorial Coliseum or the Embassy Theatre.

City officials say, they are simply asking would it make sense.
